Let’s magnify our Lord…

A magnifying glass is used to magnify an object to create a larger image…in other words WHAT YOU MAGNIFY YOU GET MORE OF. Come on friends…lets magnify our Savior and Lord Jesus!! We all need more of Jesus in our lives…let’s magnify Him and increase His presence in our own lives as well as point others to Him with the words that we speak, with the love that we show and the grace that we extend. Let’s magnify Him with our praise, with our worship, with the sharing of our faith.

Psalm 34:3 “Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!”

He makes all things new…

My family and friends that know me well know just how much I’ve changed since I started walking with the Lord. My entire life has changed including my character, my thoughts, my actions, my words, the way I give and the way I love among other things. God truly has made me a new creation; I have been changed mind, body and spirit. Praise God!! When we put our faith in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, seek Him and obediently follow Him He does a miraculous thing in our lives…He changes us. Think about your own life – how have you changed since you started walking with the Lord? Let’s do something…take out some paper and a pen and make a list of all the things that have changed in your life since your relationship first started with the Lord. It’s easy to overlook how far we’ve come and start to feel like God is working in everybody’s life but ours. Write it down, I bet you’ll realize after making your list that He’s doing more in your life than your first realized.

My testimony (check out the about me page for the background)  is a real life example of the way He can and does change us when we invite Him to do so. The change in your life is the outward evidence of the change that has transpired in your heart. There is nothing we can do to change ourselves…we are nothing apart from God. Surrender your life at the feet of the Savior and He will change you too.

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away, behold, new things have come.”

Let’s get personal…

This is a topic that has been on my heart for a long time and I have been waiting on the Lord to give me the words, but now is the time.

I’m very saddened that there are people that are being deceived by the enemy in thinking that they are right with God, when really they are not.

Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord”, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?” And then will I declare to them, “I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.”

“I never knew you”…let’s reflect on this for a moment. Jesus is saying you did all these works but at the end of the day, I still didn’t have a relationship with you…I never KNEW you. How do you honestly know someone if you don’t have a first hand relationship with them?? All the works, good deeds, rituals, ceremonies and everything else still does not equal a first hand relationship with someone.  The people Jesus is referring to do not have a real relationship with Him, all they have is an empty religion.

Religion cannot take the place of relationship. We are able to have an actual personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus. Jesus bridged the gap between our Holy God and us sinners. The only way for us to know God and for God to know us is by having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Believing in God, going to church every Sunday, and reading the Bible is not enough to secure your eternal rest in Heaven with the Father. The ONLY way to spend eternity with God the Father, is to accept, follow and have a personal relationship with His Son Jesus. In John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

I have a personal relationship with Jesus. I not only have faith in Him as my Savior, but I trust Him with every aspect of my life.  I love Him, I tell Him about my good days and my bad days, I ask for His help, I laugh with Him and I cry with Him. BUT…a relationship cannot be one sided. Here’s the really amazing part… even though I can’t see Him, He makes His presence very known in my life and shows me that He loves me too. He brings me peace and comfort in the bad days and joy in the good days, he answers my pleas for help, and reminds me of hope through the tears. To me He is a parent, a friend, a provider, a helper, a teacher…sometimes when I think of Him, I refer to Him as “my Jesus”… it’s personal to me…HE’S personal to me. In order to completely surrender your life over to someone and agree to follow them regardless of what you’re asked to do or go through, it HAS to be personal!

Do not be deceived by your religion – the only way to the Father is through the Son. When we confess our sins and ask for forgiveness – we must bring them directly to Jesus, our Redeemer.

Friends, if you are feeling that you are missing something from your “religion”- you’re feeling that way for a reason. You’re missing out on Jesus. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ came “to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10). If you are feeling like you are unfulfilled in your beliefs, your religion or your church…that’s because our Lord is seeking you and wants to save you. He is calling you to a personal relationship with Him…answer the call. Step out in faith, it’s time to get personal…

The times are changing…

Does anybody else feel it? Do you sense that things are changing on a spiritual level? Everything inside of me senses that the “the church”, that is the body of Christ is being awakened at a level that has not been before. Things are happening, things are changing and they seem to be accelerating. It’s very hard to even try to put what I feel into words to type this but the others I’ve visited with about this also have that same “feeling” and I know that there’s no coincidence. Now I don’t know how close we are to the End Times and the triumphant return of Christ, but I do know that each day we are closer than we were the day before. I believe that we are relatively getting closer to it and that God is calling His believers, His Church, to a new level in preparation.

The church we have joined in Surprise is a new church, but the people coming to this church all seem to have one thing in common. We all feel like there is no coincidence that we were brought to this church and for the vast majority of us that have recently moved to this community from another state, we feel like there is no coincidence that we were brought to this place as well because we all feel like we were brought here for a reason…we’re just not sure why yet. It’s interesting when you visit with multiple people/couples that are all very new to town and everybody is saying the same thing – we all came here because this is where the Lord was leading us and we trusted and were obedient to that leading and now we all feel completely at peace with being here now…how cool is that?

Our Heavenly Father is up to something, that is for sure! He’s banding His workers together. He’s preparing us for a new level…how exciting!! There is a bountiful harvest yet to be brought in before His return…

Luke 10:2 He told them, The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

It’s not religion, it’s a relationship…

I think there are some misconceptions about religion vs. relationship with Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, I think that there might be a lot of people that feel like just because they go to church every Sunday that they have fulfilled their quota for considering themselves “Christians” and yet don’t even know that they are missing out on the single most important thing in their entire lives – a PERSONAL  relationship with Jesus Christ!!! We don’t need religion, we need Him!!!

Romans 10:9 says “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved”.

I’m not talking about salvation here everyone, you can be saved and yet still not have a PERSONAL relationship with your Savior! I confessed Jesus as my Savior when I was about eleven and truly believed but my personal relationship with Him didn’t start until the night I came to Him with my life and asked for His help. In that moment when I reached out to Him, it became real to me and I put my trust in Him to actually help me. From that time on, my personal relationship with Him started and has continued to grow each and everyday over the past several years since I reached out to Him. I talk to Him everyday – sometimes in formal prayer but because I talk to Him throughout each day, most of the time it’s just like a conversation I would have with you If I was speaking to you…in the morning – Thank you Father for another new day. At work – Lord, how should I handle this situation? On my commute home – thank you Jesus for the safe drive home today. At home – Lord, what should I do about this problem with my kids? When I’m afraid of something – Father, please give me peace. And the really cool part is…He answers me back!! He answers me by planting ideas in my head, He gives me songs that put things in perspective, He opens up doors that only He could open up…He speaks to me in many ways that I know could have only come from Him!!

Friends, this is SO MUCH more than religion!! This is SO MUCH more than church!! This is so much more than canned prayers – this post cannot even start to explain how much my life has changed since I put my trust in Him and started a REAL relationship with Him!

Is He real to you? Have you put your trust in Him? I know He will change your life too if you’ll put your trust in Him. He is trustworthy and will never let you down – He loves you and died for YOU.

Psalms 22:4-5

“In You our fathers trusted; They trusted and You delivered them. To You they cried out and were delivered; In You they trusted and were not disappointed.”

Being powerful for Christ…

I heard a sermon a few weeks ago about being powerful for Christ and its still got me thinking. It’s premise was about how each of us as being believers and followers of Jesus Christ should seek how we can be powerful for Christ. How can we spread the Good News? How can we engage people in our own communities and start conversations? How can we share Christ’s love with new people? How can we get to a new level in our own faith to where sharing Jesus is just part of our everyday lives? The word that keeps coming to me is boldness. I think we need to be bold in order to be powerful for Christ. We need to not worry about what other people might think of us! When I stand before my King someday, I don’t want Him to have to ask me why I didn’t walk through the doors that He opened for me. Boldness… A good friend once said “this life isn’t a dress rehearsal, we only get one shot at this”. He was absolutely right, we only get one chance at this thing called life! I want to be powerful for Christ!! I want to be bold for Christ!!

Father, I ask you to reveal ways that I can be powerful for you. I ask that you give me boldness and courage in my everyday life to approach new people and start conversations that I normally wouldn’t. In Jesus name, amen.

Such a sad day…

The Supreme Court ruled today to allow same sex marriage in the U.S. Did that really just happen? How did we get to this point?

I read the headlines and although I had somehow known that this was coming, I just sat at my desk and cried. My heart is so saddened for all the disillusioned people in this country that believe it’s ok to marry someone of the same sex. My heart breaks for these people because I know if these people believe in same sex marriage, they don’t know Jesus Christ as their personal savior and do not trust in the Word of God.

I am comforted by the knowledge and trust that my Heavenly Father is just as much in control today as he was yesterday! As much as we can’t understand it, this too is part of the plan. He knows exactly what He’s doing – we just need to trust. His great name WILL BE glorified through this too.

As the saying goes…we know who wins!!!

Please join me in prayer for all the people that were for same sex marriage being passed – pray that they find Jesus.
